Funder, Corporate
From a 2030 commitment to 60 million litres a year in India.
The challenge
Microsoft pledged to be water-positive by 2030. The harder part was finding credible projects in the basins where they were needed most — scattered across databases, cold introductions and informal networks.
How SWIM helped
SWIM cross-referenced basin-level water stress with active project pipelines worldwide. It surfaced a fundable opportunity in central India: a water-stressed village of 16,000, four-and-a-half kilometres from a processing facility with a recoverable water stream — and Botanical Water Technologies ready to install.
The outcome
In build through 2026. A 4.5-kilometre pipeline is being commissioned from the facility to Bela, with a Water ATM and RFID access at every household — designed to deliver sixty million litres a year, tracked litre-by-litre against Microsoft's 2030 ledger.
